Hydraulic accumulators in hydraulic systems perform a variety of tasks. They are used in pressure maintenance/energy recapture, chassis suspensions, and the dampening of vibrations and pulsations. Moreover, they shorten cycle times and increase operating life. In hydraulic accumulators, a volume of fluid is stored under gas pressure and, when necessary, can be fed back into the hydraulic system. In this process, the hydraulic fluid is separated from the gas by a diaphragm or a piston. With an increase in pressure, the hydraulic accumulator takes in the hydraulic fluid and the gas is compressed. If the pressure declines, the gas expands outward again and forces the stored fluid into the hydraulic circuit. The important factor is that the design of the hydraulic accumulator is exactly configured for the requirements.
